Hey Jim...How do I clean the soundboard on my baby grand piano?

Baby grand pianos get really dusty if you leave the lid open. It is not easy to clean the soundboard under the strings. Especially where the bass strings and treble strings pass over each other. I recommend two options.

1) Have Missouri Piano Tuning & Repair tune your piano. We clean the piano before we tune it!

2) Buy a piano soundboard cleaning tool. Do a search on Amazon for "grand piano soundboard cleaning tool". I bought this one for $30. Allows you to get under the strings and clean up the dust.

Couple other options...you can take an air compressor and blow it out. But, then you have dust all over your house. There is another tool that I have used in the past. It is a long metal strip with a slot in the end for a cloth. You have to be very careful not to scratch your soundboard with the metal tip. It works, you just have to be very careful.

I recommend keeping the lid closed whenever the piano is not being used. That will reduce the amount of dust inside the piano. The easiest way to keep your piano clean is to have us tune the piano once a year! A clean piano looks fabulous!
